Gautam Gambhir Salary: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) formally announced the appointement of Gautam Gambhir as Team India’s new head coach on July 9 (Tuesday). While the ex-India batter was always in the frontrunner to replace Rahul Dravid as the head coach, several media reports had confirmed, an official confirmation was awaited. The Indian Cricket Board finally dropped his name with him set to take over as the coach from India’s tour of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, an earlier report had hinted that salary negotiation was the reason BCCI was delaying its official confirmation of Gambhir as the head coach. While Dravid, Gambhir’s predecessor, was drawing a salary of Rs 12 crore salary annually, it is expected that Gambhir will be earning more salary.

Salary Not The Only Perk Of India Head Coach

It is worth highlighting that the annual salary is not the only perk of being an India head coach. In 2019, the Board had revised its daily allowance policy under which the coach will be entitled to $250 (nearly Rs 21,000) per day of daily allowance on an away tour, doubling it from the previous amount. The daily allowance is over and above the business class travel, accommodation and laundry expenses for which the BCCI pays, as per details provided by news agency IANS.

Gambhir will also get to experience world class travel and accomodation while on national duty. Such an arrangement is done for head coach so that the entire coaching staff and the team is in the best possible environment to perform at pressure situations.
