Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who faced a similar exclusion, has also made a comeback, securing a Grade C contract worth ₹1 crore annually. In a notable shift, Rishabh Pant has been elevated to Grade A, commanding a ₹5 crore annual retainer.
This promotion comes after his demotion to Grade B in the previous season due to his recovery from a life-threatening accident and effectively replaces the retired Ravichandran Ashwin in this top tier.
The Grade C category has expanded significantly, now encompassing 19 players, with four fresh faces: Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
